Providing pathways to a better life through literacy, education, workforce preparation, citizenship, and English language proficiency programs.

Literacy Zones are a statewide reform initiative funded by the New York State Education Department to close the achievement gap in communities characterized by significant poverty and that have high concentrations of families and individuals with limited literacy or English language proficiency.
Rochester Literacy Zone partners help adult learners in the greater Rochester gain the knowledge, skills, and support needed for economic self-sufficiency through:
- Digital, family, financial, and health literacy
- An array of adult education classes
- Career training and employment assistance
- Transitional and support services
- Referrals
- Case management
Many programs and services are provided free of charge. Financial aid may be available for programs that have an enrollment fee.
