Israel Perez
2019 Electrical Graduate
Congratulations to Israel Perez for completing the Electrical Program. As of March 4, 2019, Israel will be working as a Residential Electrician in San Francisco, California. Israel is a shining example of how perseverance, dedication, and tenacity can change lives. Getting to this point has not been easy. Israel has overcome a multitude of barriers including incarceration, 5 years of being on parole, employment loss, and dealing with the Department of Health Services. He is also a single father raising two social media addicted teenage daughters.
Advice for potential students:
“You have to have a desire to want to change. I wanted it and began setting small goals and celebrating small accomplishments. Don’t let life’s negatives be distractions. Tell yourself that you want it and stay focused on it. You must be able to take a chance. Despite how hard it can be your life can change but no one can do this work for you. At 42 years old, I’m still growing and learning. I still have big goals and know that I am on the path to complete them. Surround yourself with people that support you and want to see you succeed. Let everyone else go. Israel credits his success to the love and support he receives from his family and his fiancé Blair.
I would like to thank the staff at OACES for giving me the opportunity, tools, and knowledge to catapult my life in a new direction.”
