Our automotive technologies graduates trained 3-6 months to prepare for the knowledge and skill needed to service, troubleshoot, and repair basic automotive systems. Hands-on shop time allows students to disassemble, repair, and reassemble, rebuild and test auto engines, brakes, and suspension systems.
Coursework includes fuel systems, electrical, transmission, tras-axel and belt/pulley/chain drive system, safety practices, wiring diagrams mechanical schematics and the use of technical manuals.
Certifications may include OSHA 5-hr., Lincoln Welding Safety, Basic Welding Competencies, Briggs & Stratton Manufacturer Certification.
Our building maintenance graduates trained 3-6 months. They covered safety, maintenance math, hand tools, environmental services, grounds training, and forklift training. Graduates were prepared for entry-level maintenance and environmental services employment.
Certifications may include Building Maintenance Level 1, 2; Building Maintenance Worksite Safety; Sealed Air Diversey Care Online Training; MARCOM Safety Training; Hand Pallet Truck; Yale Walkie Rider Lift Truck; Yale SITDRIVE Lift Truck; OSHA 5-hr., LEEDS Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design.
OACES carpentry graduates have trained approximately 200 hours, introduced to the basic techniques necessary for designing and building furniture and an array of wood products. Topics included safety, measuring, use of hand and power tools, fork lift training and the basics of production building for retail sales. Graduates were prepared for entry level employment in industrial or private woodworking environments.
Certification may include OSHA 5hr and 10hr; LEEDS Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design; Yale Walkie-Rider Lift Truck; Backhoe Simulator.
Our culinary career graduates trained for 3-6 months in food preparation and presentation, menu planning, table service, food control, sanitation, methods, and food costing. Our advanced graduates studied basic management and supervisory techniques.
Certifications may include OSHA 5-hr.; ServSafe Food Handler; NRF Customer Service; Cornell Cooperative Extension Nutrition Certification.
Customer Service in the 21st Century
OACES Customer Service graduates trained 3-6 months, and carry a range of nationally recognized certifications. They studied how to ensure customer satisfaction, handle customer inquiries, provide administrative support, and coordinate customer service. Our students prepared to work in retails stores, manufacturing companies, wholesale outlets and other service industries.
Certifications may include OSHA 5-hr., NRF Customer Service, ServSafe, and Foolproof Money Management.
OACES electrical graduates trained 3-6 months, practicing skills necessary to enter the electrical industry. Studies included residential and commercial wiring, related math, blueprint reading, wiring schematic’s, raceway installation, trouble-shooting electrical circuits and construction safety. Curriculum balanced 20% lecture with 80% hands-on performance. Graduates studied electrical theory through hands-on practical performance projects and lectures/lessons. Our electrical graduates were prepared for direct entry into the work place, or post-secondary education.
Certifications may include Basic Electrical Soldering; Electrical Level I Residential Wiring; Electrical Level II Commercial Wiring; Electrical Service Installation; OSHA 10-hr “Construction Industry”; LEEDS Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design; Amatrol Green Energy
While we no longer offer the metal training, we try to stay in contact with our graduates.
OACES Metal Trades graduates trained 3-6 months, for an understanding of manufacturing processes and systems common to careers in the metal trades industry. Topics covered include safety, planning and layout, measurement and welding. Projects incorporate design, cutting, and shaping of sheet metal, metallurgy, hand and power tools, mechanical fasteners, laser engraving and use of a Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) plasma cutter. Successful completion of this program prepared graduates for entry level work in production and metal trade careers.
Certified Nursing Assistant/EKG Technician
Our graduates trained approximately 160 hours for a career in the healthcare profession, with New York State Department of Education approved coursework.
Students prepared for the Nurse Assistant/EKG Technician Certification Examination. Training included 30+ hours of actual long-term care experience, in addition to classroom and lab instruction.
Topics included writing vital signs; measuring blood pressure; emergency care; first aid for shock; splinting and slings; Heimlich and removing airway obstructions; infection control; personal care; nutrition and diet therapy; elimination procedures; lifting/moving/transporting; admissions/transfers/discharges/physical exams; pre- and post-operative care; circulatory and respiratory care; life changes and adaptations; communication and the client.
Certifications may include OSHA 5-hr and NYS Certified Nurse Assistant License.
Quick Printing and Promotions
OACES Quick Printing & Promotions graduates were introduced to the field of graphic communications, by designing and producing print and promotional items. Graduates studied theory behind design and quality production, familiar design software, building from concept to production, and supporting customer expectations. They operated equipment such as laminator, manual and hydraulic paper cutter, wide format printer, heat press, photographic mat cutter, and graphic cutter/plotter.
Certification may include OSHA 5-hr., NFR Customer Service, and LEEDS Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design.

This might include translation, temporary help, inventory, quality control, customer service, cleaning, data entry, manual labor, equipment operation, delivery drivers, security guards.
Some of our students studied and practiced previously in other countries, and have certifications from other countries. OACES students currently reside in Rochester, NY.
